United State of Man U Blog #3
The transfer window has officially closed, and Ronaldo remains in place just like I said. I won’t go and say Rashford is back, but if he keeps this up, things can get scary for Prem defenses. Reinforcements are here in the form of Malacia, Eriksen, Casemiro, Dubravka, and Antony. Oh yeah and United have now taken down Liverpool and Arsenal in the span of one week. And YOOO I am here for it. Had a few loud mouths saying United were trash and would get whooped by Arsenal. But all I saw was Gabriel Jesus get touched up and beaten down like a WWE ragdoll. The game plan was clear. Knock this man in the mouth! ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?! Let’s get right into it.
After opening the season with 2 disastrous losses, Manchester United now find themselves in some seriously good form. Erik ten Hag is a man on a mission and boy does he have these guys flying. Starting Antony with only one training session. That’s the sort of trust you put into someone you know will make an impact. And what happened? Antony scores in the 35th minute on his home debut. The stuff of legends. Ronaldo subbed in for him in the 60th, and the embrace from Ronaldo to Antony was a proud moment and something YLTS. Casemiro hasn’t even got in the starting XI yet and that’s thanks to great play from Scotty. Eriksen (he was clearly fouled so please don’t chat) has been a revelation for this club, and it has turned Bruno (unbelievable outside the foot assist to Rashy) into the mad man we know he is. Eriksen is only 18 months removed from being close to dead on the pitch at the EUROs. United have been blessed to have him. He completely controlled the game vs Arsenal and was involved in every scoring play. The way he breaks defenses down with delicious through balls and his continuous work rate. C’mon now! Without him, I don’t even know if we get some of these signings. IMO he made the decision for Casemiro to come that much easier. Marcus Rashford IMO really needs to solidify his spot up top. Just hone your craft up top and let the wingers we have do their thing. A brace vs Arsenal after the score being evened was something I did not see coming. I was genuinely happy for him. He has been getting a lot of slack (rightfully so). But when you take your chances and finish them, the fans will love you. Arsenal on the other hand, just did not take their chances. Just a whole lot of dribbling with no real punch. Lucky to have even got that goal TBH. 3-1 victory vs Arsenal. What a time to be a United fan!
Liverpool CHECK. Arsenal CHECK. 4 games on the BOUNCE! Up next for United are two matches in the Europa League and Prem league respectively. On Thursday, Real Sociedad come to Old Trafford and then we take a trip to Selhurt Park on Sunday to take on Crystal Palace. Not the easiest place to play but these are the ones we need to put away convincingly to continue to make our mark. I won’t make score predictions, but I fully expect victories and that’s all that needs to be said on that. United sit in 5th place while Arsenal, City, Spurs and Brighton round out the top 4. City and Spurs battle on Saturday at the Ethiad. Liverpool hosts the Wolves. Chelsea takes a trip to Craven Cottage vs Fulham. Those are the highlighted matches on my end. Some juicy matchups this week in the Champions League but United will be busy running the Europa League streets. Glory Glory Man United!
