United State of Man U Blog #2

100 million dollars is a lot of dough for a transfer fee. However, sometimes that’s what it takes to push the needle. Antony has landed in Manchester. The babyface 22-year-old Brazilian is bringing his talents from Ajax. ANOTHER ONE! He also goes down as the most expensive player to come from the Dutch league. It will only be a matter of time before he is lacing his boots up and running a muck in the Premier League streets. And yo I am here for it. Maestro dribbling skills mixed in with a blazing left foot (also can use his right) this man is about to tear it up and produce on the right-hand side of this United squad. That’s my type of player. Someone who can just go at it. Coming into the team playing as inverted right winger will allow for some sensational play. Imagine a front three of Sancho, Antony and Martial. A touch of class to say the least. And one must ask where that leaves Rashford and Ronaldo. That place just might have to be on the bench until they can prove they can hit top gear with this current squad. I truly believe Ronaldo is locked in purgatory for a few more months. If he goes between now and Thursday, I will genuinely be stunned. But we have seen Ronaldo do this before, just like he did to Juventus. No way in hell he goes without us getting a replacement. If that is the case, someone like Asensio from Madrid would not be a bad cheaper option. Rumors are ongoing he could be on the way. United also secured a loan deal for Martin Dubravka from Newcastle United. Not a bad backup to have. Tom Heaton, class act, but not someone I want in net should De Gea go down. I know a lot of people on the socials been saying we need to get a right back, but Diego Dalot has passed the exam for me, and I will take AWBissaka off the bench when needed. 3 days left in the transfer window it will be interesting how it all plays out.

The image will never leave my head. After Brentford went up 2 or 3 nil on United (how quickly things change), Erik ten Hag had the look of absolute disgust on his face. Like something had to change and it had to change fast. Now EtH got something going and sees his squad in a good place. 2 wins on the bounce after starting the season off disastrously. Look who’s laughing now. After floating at the bottom of the league going into game week 3, United sit in 8th place in the league and continue to jump up the table. A somewhat comfortable shutout win away to Southampton was what was needed over the weekend. Bruno volleyed a beautiful cross from Dalot for the lone goal, while De Gea had to make a big save to preserve the shutout. The whole backline played as a cohesive unit. It’s funny, I don’t have many people texting me, messaging me about Lisandro. Funny how that works out. But let me not get ahead of myself.

United goes into the week of August 29th, with two games vs Leicester and Arsenal on Thursday and Sunday respectively. On Thursday United will travel to King Power Stadium to take on Leicester City, who currently sit at the bottom of the table (surely Brendan Rodgers last days are here). 3 days later, United host Arsenal at Old Trafford on Sunday September 4th. With everything to play for, both for United and their opponents, the true test of adversity will be faced. I fully expect United to answer the call with both games. I’m no guru but the crystal ball says there’s a 2-0 win at Leicester. As far as the Arsenal game. I saw some vulnerability when they played Fulham in their 2-1 win. But at this point every team has shown traces of vulnerability. 2-1 United over Arsenal. Sanchooooooo been cooking.

Arsenal, City, Tottenham and Brighton round out the top four. City are a cheat code. Chelsea pulled off a much needed 2-1 victory after going down a man, while Leeds ran out of gas vs Brighton 1 nil. Liverpool blasted Bournemouth 9 nil. These men genuinely took the loss to United personally and projected those feelings onto Bournemouth like a small child would when told no by their parents. Everton doing Everton things and sitting in the basement. Nottingham needs to relax with all that spending and pray to the almighty they stay up.
